[My Own] Wedding Wednesday | The Venue

only 73 days left until our big day (but who’s counting…) and because i don’t have much more on the brain than my own wedding these days, i thought i’d add another installment of [my own] wedding wednesday to the blog. i’ll be sharing a lot about our planning process in the coming weeks leading up to our big day (april 26!) because a) it’s fun and b) it’s a little strange being on this side of things.

today it’s all about our incredible venue – Ravenswood Event Center.

when billy and i started planning our wedding almost a year ago, we knew that our top two priorities were photographer (let’s be serious) and the venue. we firmly believe that photography is the part of the day that carries on long after it’s all happened, and the venue sets the stage for all of it. after we had decided on the vibe we wanted, we immediately started researching loft spaces in chicago. i’ve shot a few weddings at REC before and loved the space. it was always a front runner when we were considering spaces. the staff at REC is what led us to our final decision. billy and i have also made a point of surrounding ourselves with incredible vendors on our wedding day that we trust. i know, from experience, that it truly makes all the difference. the staff at REC goes above and beyond for every event to make sure that their clients are well taken care of. we knew there would be nothing to worry about on the day if we decided to celebrate in their spaces. so we signed.

billy and i could not be more excited about a space that is the perfect canvas to design a wedding that is entirely us. since booking the venue, the team has gone to great lengths to make sure all of our needs our met and that all details are thoroughly communicated. we are probably most excited about the ceremony space (pictured below) with all of its natural light glory. and we will be dancing the night away at our reception in REC’s swanky industrial ballroom (not pictured below). if you’re interested to see photos of that space, you can here.

i can’t rave enough about our venue. honored to be saying “i do” in such a remarkable space and with the help of their marvelous vendor team.
