last night i soaked up one of the last evenings of summer with friends, listening to “a tribute to ella fitzgerald” in millenium park. and although for some crazy reason they didn’t sing “at last,” we had an amazing time drinking red, combining small snack forces, and tributing to ella.

so long summer. you’ve been so good to me.

ready for fall, as always, with open arms. it’s my favorite season and this one is going to be one for the record books. every saturday, and some fridays, from next weekend until mid november is booked with weddings. as i mentally prepare for this crazy season ahead, i’m remembering to be thankful and to still be in awe of how far things have come, even in a year. i’ve also been spending a lot of time perusing the interwebs for inspiration, keeping tabs on what other artists are producing, sharpening my eye, and shooting my little tail off on mini projects & sessions. i’ve scored some good finds for the closet, for the home, and for the soul.

this week, i just had to have this sweatshirt for fall and i scored this button down for $1.97 at old navy yesterday. not sure why it rang up as $1.97, but the lady gave it to me anyway…

i would like to go to these.

made this for the rainy day we had last sunday. added grits to the side. to die for and perfect for all those cozy fall nights approaching.

reading diane keaton’s “then again.”  i highly recommend this one. i’m crying, laughing, and can’t put it down.

all the while, listening to ellie’s latest.

any awesome finds lately, ya’ll?

this weekend is the last one to myself for a while and it starts tonight at taste of melrose park. my boyfriend and i aim to go every year because it’s one of the hearty kinds. under every vendor tent is a family working together to bring you rich, gorgeous italian food and even though you’d swear you can’t eat again for days, you find the room. it’s a beautiful thing. tomorrow, a group of us head up to michigan to wine country. wine/beer tastings, good company, and an escape from the city. i’ve wanted to go ever since i moved to the midwest and now i’m finally making it happen.

cheers to the holiday weekend everyone!
