we’re only 6 weeks out from the day! 6.5 to be exact. and while it’s all about finalizing at this point, EVERYONE is asking about who is photographing OUR day. naturally, choosing a photographer was the number one priority for our wedding day. and because of that, people have asked us how difficult it was to choose our photographer. well folks, the truth is, it wasn’t hard at all. being in the industry, i had grown to understand very clearly the style i wanted on our wedding day. i also wanted a photographer who would be an extension of my bridal brain on the day. who didn’t assume that we knew how to pose ourselves on the other side of the camera (cause we just don’t). who was going to make us feel 100% comfortable. who was outgoing, a little quirky like myself, energetic, and put us to ease. oh yeah, and they would have to be brilliant at their craft.

the truth is, i reached out to marissa before billy and even got engaged almost a year ago. i knew that when she didn’t think i was crazy for doing so, she was a keeper. i discovered her through her work first but the weird part about all of it, is that marissa and i are connected by numerous groups of friends and different life experiences. choosing her to be our photographer was kismet. completely. i introduced her to billy when the time came, and after that he was like, “i get it.” so ever since we found her, we haven’t thought twice. we CANNOT WAIT to see how she will capture our day with all of its crazy, fun, untraditional, and urban flair. her work centers around the heart of relationships. it’s timeless and artful. it’s candid and a bit whimsical. it’s playful and vibrant. and it goes hand in hand with our style as a couple.
marissa is so much more than the real deal. she’s supremely talented and has an inviting way about her. she’s someone you die to be friends with and to be around. so glad we found her. flying her to chicago from seattle was a no brainer.
